With a theme that took players into a fantastical world of wizards, creatures, and spells, the Alpha set introduced 295 cards, including some that would become legends in their own right like the infamous Black Lotus

Vohar, Vodalian Desecrator I certainly wasnt expecting to see such a powerful card in the cycle of uncommon legendary creatures this time around

A bit more surprising is Lady Orca , who's also a demon despite just being a bald lady surrounded by black mist

Black Lotus is the most expensive Magic card of all time, and it sells for a whopping $500k+

This instant-speed burn spell will do X damage to any target and will then allow you to cast a card with a converted mana cost of X or less from your hand without paying its mana cost
