mtg alara reborn cards Magic: the Gathering - Thopter Foundry exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card that costs less Magic the Gathering [075] ALARA

Its a nod to the (in)famous Black Lotus, but in a more balanced and reusable form

An example a bit closer to home is watching someone build a mana base for their booster draft deck by simply counting mana symbols, essentially ignoring (2)

That said, whats great about the ability is that you can go wide by distributing the counters among eight creatures or go high by putting all eight onto onemost especially your commander

As I mentioned before, the most powerful way to build Commander decks with MDFCs is to cut five or six lands (usually basic lands or other utility lands that tap for one color of mana) along with two or three spells and replace them with MDFCs so that you end up with something like 31 or 32 "real" lands but 40 or 41 total lands

One card to really watch out for is Trickbind , a one-generic, one-blue instant with split second which will counter the madness ability and give you no chance to respond to it either
