mtg athreos commander deck Athreos, God of Passage Custom return it to your hand unless target opponent pays 3 life. Athreos, Shroud-Veiled (212) MTG :

As you can see with cards like [mtg_card]Hollow One[/mtg_card], [mtg_card]Ichorid[/mtg_card], and [mtg_card]Nightmare Amalgam[/mtg_card], discarding cards isnt all bad

This deck is looking to wear down opponents with removal and attrition before closing out the game with a legion of nightmarish attackers

Flying, vigilance (Melds with Gisela, the Broken Blade.) She now sees only Emrakuls visions

"More fun" in this context means "more chances to make that crazy play you imagined when you were building your deck, but which would only be possible if you combined many cards and/or had a lot of mana"

It can potentially do some work in decks like Breena, the Demagogue that can encourage opponents to attack each other, or a goad deck such as Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant where you can hope that blockers will be dying
