Why Wizards of the Coast Is Making Digital-Only Magic Cards Speaking with Magic: The Gatherings Vice President of Design Aaron Forsythe and MTG Arenas Game Director Jay Parker last week, it became clear to me that WotC is using Jumpstart: Historic Horizons to take some confident but measured first steps toward whats possible for Magic digitally
Check out each card below: The drop contains: Altar of the Brood Brain Freeze Crop Rotation Demonic Consultation Eerie Ultimatum Field of the Dead Gray Merchant of Asphodel Hymn to Tourach Isochron Scepter Junji, the Midnight Sky Krark-Clan Ironworks Llanowar Elves Myrel, Sheild of Argive Narsets Reversal Ob Nixilis, the Fallen Phyrexian Altar Questing Beast Retrofitter Foundry Sol Ring Temple of the False God Urzas Saga Vesuva Wasteland Xantcha, Sleeper Agent Yarok, the Desecrated Zo-Zu the Punisher Each card is individually wrapped and can be foil or Halo foil
I find Rapacious Guest weirdly intriguing
The reprint values a saving grace, with a rock solid roster of heavily-played goodies
For the third prong of fair use, one could argue that the entire card is being used and is thus substantial, but alternatively another could argue that much of the original card is covered with paint and thus practically very little of the original art and design is being used
