Judith and The Infant Hercules | Master of the Mansi Magdalen | 1525 Size:10"x20" Yet he insisted on pursuingJudith and the Infant Hercules (1525) by Master of the Mansi Magdalen is a deeply unsettling Renaissance work. A nude female figure calmly grips the severed head of a bearded man, while the child Hercules stands beside her, entwined with a serpent. The clash of innocence and brutality, paired with the dark, airless background, gives the scene a cold, disturbing intensitywhere violence, myth, and moral ambiguity coexist without comfort. Print: A
